The last day of the event was amazing for the Pipe event and webcast. However that night after the after party the news spread of a possibly tsunami, so beta and I plus my visiting sister and husband made the mad dash to higher ground and my sister caught a earlier flight out before the shut the airport down. Very scary stuff, we are all okay now and will be getting better plans together in case it happens again. Much mahalos to everyone watching the event and checking in on how I was doing with the Tsunami warning.
NOT THE TSUNAMI WAVE BUT FROM THE DAY BEFORE PREPARING TO RIDE THE BIG ONE!
Today was a full of highs and lows. Right before my heat it looked like the Pipe conditions turned for the better with offshore winds As soon as I sat down to stretch the Konas came in an shattered my dreams of Pipe pits. I had a plan to wait for the two best barrels of the heat and got trumped by 2-3 insiders that i was not event looking at to go. All the sets pinched due to the wind and even though I had one good score my second wave at Backdoor pinched and sent me into a horrible paddle situation inwhich I got smashed on the reef at Backdoor/Aints. Better luck next time. Mahalo for everyone who watched my attempts today!
Beta & Jason getting the job done for their Sponsors.
